Romans 8

Romans 8

During the construction of the Golden Gate Bridge, no protective devices were used. 23 men fell to their deaths. As a result, the work slowed down until the contractors decided to put in a safety net. After several weeks, the net saved 10 lives, and the work increased by 25%. Why? Because the men felt safe. They knew that something was there to catch them.

Paul alludes to the same thing in Romans 8:37-39 when he writes: “But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” In other words, Jesus is there to catch us. He is there to hold us up when we fall, and, even more than that, He is there to help us conquer. If we know Him, nothing can separate us from the love of God.

Do you feel safe today? If you are in Christ, you should, because nothing can separate you from God. Do you feel anxious and afraid? You have no reason to, because there is someone to help you conquer. There is a divine safety net that can protect you from any created thing. Join us this Sunday morning at 46024 Riverside Drive in Chilliwack as we study that safety net in Romans 8. Join us as we study “Him who loved us.” We meet at 9:30. See you there! – Jeremy Cagle
