How It All Started
In the Fall of 2015, Grace Fellowship Chilliwack conducted its first public services in the basement of a home in Chilliwack. After several meetings, our small congregation determined that we would plant a church based upon Scripture and the core tenants of the Christian faith. By the winter of that year, the group had grown large enough to move out of a home and into the current facility at 46024 Riverside Drive.
At the same time, we realized that we would need help in the church planting process. We reached out to Grace Advance, a ministry of Grace Community Church in Los Angeles, CA that specializes in church plants and revitalization (www.graceadvance.org). Over the course of the next year, the Grace Advance team made several trips to provide encouragement and guidance in the planting process. In the meantime, Grace Fellowship Chilliwack was also officially incorporated and continued to grow, as we established a Music Team, Outreach Team, and Children’s Ministries.
In the spring of 2016, Grace also began searching for a Teaching Pastor. After looking at several candidates, we invited Jeremy Cagle to visit our church. Jeremy was serving as an Associate Pastor in the U.S. at the time. After sampling his sermons and written materials, and spending a weekend with Jeremy and his wife, the people agreed that he would be a good fit for their pulpit. We called him on October 5, 2016. Jeremy accepted, and was installed on March 12, 2017.
Since then, Grace has seen its first baptisms, welcomed its first members, installed elders and deacons, hired our first administrative assistant, and held its first camps. We also started a Care & Discipleship ministry, which allow our people to meet together weekly in small groups for Bible study and prayer. We have continued to grow in our Men’s and Women’s Ministries as well as in our Nursery, Children and Youth Programs.
Most importantly, Grace continues our devotion to Christ, Scripture and the fundamentals of the Christian faith. We accept the Bible in its entirety as the inspired Word of God and strive to follow its teachings in all that we do. We hold a strong commitment to building up believers through regular preaching, teaching, fellowship, prayer and service. In addition, we believe in actively serving our community and passionately pursuing the Lord’s mission to the world.
In the Spring of 2024, Jeremy stepped down from being the teaching pastor of Grace Fellowship. He, Katie, and their two boys stayed the rest of the summer, but then we wished them farewell in August after seven and a half years of serving at Grace. They now serve at a church in the United States.
Following Jeremy's resignation, the elders began the process to look for a new teaching pastor for our church. The elders communicated the need to several seminaries, which is how we met Jory Nunn. We then followed a thorough interview process overseen by the elders and several men in the church. In August 2024, with his wife Mary and their daughters, Jory travelled to Chilliwack to meet the church. While here, Jory preached two Sundays, and met many of our families. After being affirmed by the congregation, Jory was called as Grace Fellowship's Teaching Pastor in September 2024. His family moved to Chilliwack shortly after and he has been serving in that capacity since then.
